Mainly positive results and feedback when MSB and dNK organised a workshop regarding ISI.

ISI is the technology used to enable communications between separate TETRA systems. During a week in late august the feature was tested between the Swedish RAKEL network and Norwegian Nødnett.

The 1600 km long border between Sweden and Norway requires efficient cooperation between public safety organisations on both sides. This puts serious demand on their ability to communicate seamlessly with each other. Through ISI, Inter Systems Interface, the Swedish and Norwegian networks are connected to allow users to communicate on both sides of the border with their regular equipment.

The project treads on previously untested ground since the integration between the two national networks is the first of its kind. The systems are also based on infrastructure from different manufacturers, making the project even more ground breaking.

During three days in august affected users, suppliers, manufacturers and service providers met in Strömstad, Sweden. The purpose was to test equipment, settings, features and procedures. Celab has several customers directly involved in joint border operations and was naturally in Strömstad to assist both customers, MSB and our supplier Motorola Solutions.

”After testing the terminals in both networks we feel confident that the cooperation with the emergency services in Halden (Norway) will be improved with ISI. Obviously a few things are still uncertain, but they will resolve in time”, says Håkan Baatz at the emergency services of Strömstad.

Later this year another event regarding the ISI implementation will be held in Jämtland, Sweden. This time the solution will be presented to external stakeholders through a series of realistic scenarios. The official release of ISI will be in 2017 and the workshop in Strömstad was an important step towards that goal.
