Celab Communications AB signs agreement with Lapland Airport regarding a new two-way radio system.

Press Release Published 2017-04-11

With new digital two-way radios, the airport expects to improve communications and collaboration between ground staff and the traffic control tower.

Lapland Airport is located just outside Gällivare in the far north of Sweden. The airport was originally a military airfield but is now operated by the municipality and has managed airline traffic since the seventies.

The procured solution is a two-way radio system from Motorola Solutions based on the international ETSI DMR standard. The backbone of the system consists of two interconnected Motorola SLR5500 base stations connected to UPS backup for increased reliability. Calls will take places primarily using the portable radio Motorola DP4601e. The agreement also includes solution for remote control, telemetry and voice recording.

System design, scope and functionality was precisely defined in the public procurement that Lapland Airport published in the end of 2016. Focus was instead shifted towards evaluating supplier abilities, mainly relating to technical competence, experience and financial strength. Celab Communications AB was XXX considered to have provided that most credible and complete offer and was awarded the contract. Implementation and commissioning will take place in June.
